In May 2007, Teakwood Builders, Inc was awarded the Regional Chrysalis Award in the Whole House Remodel $200,000-$500,000 category.
The Chrysalis Awards program, which began in 1994, recognizes the nation’s best work in seventeen categories of residential remodeling. Judged by editors and writers of Better Homes & Gardens, Woman’s Day, Southern Living and The American Institute of Building Design, 626 project entries were judged on overall design, creative use of space and materials, and degree to which the project enhanced the original structure.
The scope of the Whole House Remodel project was to renovate the entire home due to extensive water damage. However, it’s the details that made this already impressive house incredibly distinctive. From coffer beams and bead board ceiling applications to the combination of nostalgic white cabinets, wainscot wall panels, and custom built-ins, it was all about delivering a polished and sleek look that dominates throughout the entire house while maintaining a sense of warmth and classic comfort.

In May 2007, Teakwood Builders, Inc was awarded the Regional Chrysalis Award in the Residential Interior category for a Team Entry with Plum & Crimson Fine Interior Design.
The scope of the Residential Interior Remodel Team Entry brought family back to the family room which was successfully planned by both remodeler and interior designer. Coupled with a kitchen remodel, this makeover enlisted the talents of Teakwood’s master carpenters to site-build the custom entertainment center/wet bar, fireplace surround/mantel with adjoining bookcase and unique bookcase/bench seat. Finishes of the cherry millwork blended seamlessly with the kitchen cabinets. The finishing touches provided by the interior designer team brought incredible warmth and comfort to the heart of this home.

Featured in the September 2003 issue of Professional Remodeler Magazine, Teakwood Builders received an NRS Excellence in Class Award for Customer Satisfaction.
"Much of Teakwood Builders' work involves renovating second homes. Customers often are not living in the homes when the work is being done. So you'd probably assume one of two things: Either the company doesn't have to focus on customer service as much...or it has to work doubly hard to manage and update clients on a process they're not even witnessing. Teakwood takes the latter approach."

The task for Teakwood Builders was to convert a two-family home back to it's original single-family configuration while faithfully replicating the 1870s mouldings and trim. Much of the original floor plan was modified to adapt to modern day conveniences and the homeowners' desired uses; still, the old-style character remains. All of the doors were salvaged and re-hung with new hardware. The mission-style railing system was reproduced and matches the custom built bed in the master bedroom. Particular attention was paid to the tapered square columns that introduce the front parlor and the master bathroom as well as the built-in linen cabinet that secures a fold down ironing board and magazine rack. The master bath itself is the gem of this project. Fit into what had been a kitchen and tucked into the rear of the master bedroom, the bathroom includes a whirlpool tub/shower, wainscoting, French wood double doors, a built-in linen cabinet and a bold tile scheme.
