Rustic Adirondack Cabin Addition on Great Sacandaga Lake
On the shores of the Great Sacandaga Lake, this longtime family camp was ready for a fresh chapter. With six children and frequent gatherings, space was tight, and the homeowners dreamed of a cabin addition that would both expand living capacity and reflect the natural beauty of the Adirondacks. Teakwood Builders designed and constructed a rustic retreat that complements the original cottage while maximizing lake views. Natural materials like pine paneling, knotty alder cabinetry, hand-scraped white oak plank flooring, Turkish travertine, and polished river stone create a warm, authentic character. Red cedar shake shingles, hand-dipped in sealer, ensure the cabin’s exterior is as durable as it is timeless.
Inside, the lofted sleeping space, exposed beams, and branch spindles handcrafted by Adirondack artisan Russ Gleaves bring the forest indoors, while thoughtful details like a cozy propane stove and a family-favorite outdoor shower add modern comfort. The result is a retreat that balances durability, warmth, and character—a lakeside escape that lives up to its name: Camp Mayhem.
