Jim Sasko

Founder & Visionary

Jim founded Teakwood Builders in 1996 to combine inspired custom design with a process-driven approach to building. Drawing from his early experience in both production and creative homebuilding, he developed Teakwood’s signature design-build model—balancing artistry, systems, and service. Jim leads all aspects of the business, from operations to design, and fosters a collaborative, open-book culture. Outside of work, he enjoys skiing, boating, and time with family on their small horse farm.

Project Manager

Dan joined Teakwood in 1999 and has been an essential part of the team ever since. Known for his calm under pressure, strong work ethic, and straightforward communication, Dan brings decades of hands-on experience to every job site. As a Project Manager, he skillfully oversees multiple projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality and client care. “There has never been a time when Dan hasn’t overcome a construction challenge,” says Jim Sasko. “His ‘get-it-done’ attitude inspires everyone around him.”

Todd Desnoyers

Project Manager

Todd joined Teakwood in 2000, transitioning from light carpentry to become one of the company’s most respected leaders. As Teakwood grew, so did Todd—rising through the ranks to Lead Carpenter and now Project Manager. His commitment to craftsmanship and customer service is unmatched. “Todd is an incredible craftsman,” says Jim Sasko. “He’s kind, courteous—and clients love him for that.”

Project Manager

Chris joined Teakwood in 2000 and is known for his ingenuity, calm leadership, and problem-solving skills. As Project Manager, he has led some of the firm’s most complex builds with steady precision. A true craftsman at heart, Chris renovated his own home using hand-hewn timbers and antique tools—bringing the same dedication and resourcefulness to every Teakwood project.

Construction Manager

Joel joined Teakwood full-time in 2002 after working summers and pursuing a career in construction-related sales. A skilled millworker and natural problem-solver, he quickly rose from Carpenter to Lead Carpenter. Today, as Construction Manager, Joel is the essential link between sales, design, and field teams—ensuring projects stay on track and run smoothly. “He’s determined, versatile, and communicates exceptionally well with clients,” says his brother, Jim Sasko.

Finance Director

One of Teakwood’s most tenured and adaptable team members, Sarah keeps the company running smoothly behind the scenes. She oversees operations, HR, IT, finances, and warranty coordination—bringing organization and foresight to every aspect of the business. A licensed real estate salesperson, Sarah also helps match clients with their dream homes. She’s been a key part of Teakwood’s success since 2002.

Project Planner

With a background in building and energy auditing, Thad brings both environmental insight and design creativity to his work. A graduate of St. Lawrence University, he’s known for thoughtful planning, clear communication, and a deep understanding of building science. “He knows the inside and out of an ice dam like no one else,” says Jim Sasko. Thad has been shaping Teakwood projects with care and precision since 2006.

Lead Carpenter

A skilled and versatile craftsman, Bob brings expertise in both framing and detailed custom millwork. A longtime friend of Jim Sasko, he’s been a key part of Teakwood’s field team since 2010, taking on growing responsibilities with precision and pride. Outside of work, Bob enjoys hunting, camping, and spending time outdoors with his two sons.

Lead Carpenter, Concierge Services

Originally from Stillwater, Dave spent 17 years honing his skills as a framing carpenter on elegant Florida homes before returning to New York with his family. He was drawn to Teakwood’s dedication to craftsmanship and client care, and now plays a key role in the success of our Concierge Services division. “What’s special about Teakwood is the passion to do it right,” says Dave. “We take the time to ensure quality—and our clients appreciate that.” Dave joined Teakwood in 2011.

Lead Carpenter 

Brian joined Teakwood in 2014 after impressing the team while working independently on a shared client’s project. His creativity, strong work ethic, and natural rapport with clients made him a perfect fit. A lifelong Adirondacks resident, Brian brings a resourceful, “work-with-what-you-have” mindset to every job—and even owns a portable wood mill for custom timber work.

A Saratoga Springs native and Skidmore College graduate, Mike transitioned from banking to building, honing his skills on custom homes and commercial projects in New York and Texas. He joined Teakwood in 2017, drawn by the company’s high standards and collaborative environment. Mike continues to refine his craft on unique, detail-driven projects.

Lead Carpenter 

With a background in studio art and a master’s in industrial design from SCAD, Susy brings a refined eye and expert hand to every project. She previously owned a custom furniture and millwork business in Johnstown before joining Teakwood in 2018. As Lead Carpenter, Susy’s craftsmanship and design sensibility shine in the firm’s most intricate and creative builds.

Since joining Teakwood in 2018, Aimée has played a vital role across departments—from office management to social media. Now focused on Concierge Services, she coordinates everything from seasonal home care to white-glove repairs and maintenance. Her deep knowledge of Teakwood’s operations and clients ensures small projects are handled with precision and care.

Lead Carpenter

Larry brings over eight years of fine design and custom woodworking experience from his work with a high-end furniture designer to his role as Lead Carpenter at Teakwood. He specializes in working with unique materials—from architectural metals to exotic hardwoods—on projects ranging from custom wine cellar casework to luxury home builds and green home renovations. Since joining Teakwood in 2019, Larry has earned a reputation for craftsmanship, resourcefulness, and mentoring newer team members, ensuring every project meets the highest standards.

Harry’s athletic and construction background shapes his approach at Teakwood, blending teamwork, communication, and woodworking expertise. From learning the trade from his master carpenter father to coaching lacrosse, he brings leadership and skill to luxury home builds, custom woodworking, and high-end renovations. Joining the team in 2019, Harry is known for his craftsmanship, client-focused service, and team-oriented mindset.

Tara first experienced Teakwood as a client in 2010, when she transformed her 1970s ranch into a cozy Craftsman-style cottage. Tara also collaborates with the leadership team on long-term business planning. Adam combines his love of the outdoors with a passion for woodworking, honed after years in construction trades and inspired by his grandfather. From framing and finish carpentry to custom millwork and rustic log furniture, he brings precision and care to every project. Ballston Spa native Tim returned to the Capital Region in 2022 after a decade in high-end residential construction on Long Island. Specializing in custom finish carpentry and kitchen installs, he has quickly proven himself as a versatile carpenter and team leader. Since joining Teakwood, Tim is known for his skill, adaptability, and collaborative approach on luxury home builds and high-end renovations.

Bridget Jansen

Project Designer

Bridget, a Bayville, Long Island native, grew up around construction and developed a passion for design and space planning early on. After earning her architecture degree from the University at Buffalo, she joined Teakwood in 2022 as a Project Designer. Bridget performs site measures and produces cabinet and millwork shop drawings, as-builts, conceptual renderings, and construction drawings, combining technical expertise with creativity to support a wide range of projects.

A self-described Adventurous Adirondacks Woodworker, Kevin brings passion and skill to Teakwood. His background in competitive sports and the restaurant industry shaped his teamwork, discipline, and customer-focused approach. Since 2023, he has proven himself a capable craftsman, reliable team member, and enthusiastic learner, continually refining his woodworking expertise.

Craig, from Nottingham, England, began his construction career with his uncle’s company before exploring animation, Adirondack peaks, and directing adventure programs at Lake George’s Camp Chingachgook. After returning to construction, he joined Teakwood in 2024 as a Lead Carpenter, bringing creativity, perseverance, and team-building skills to every project while continually honing his craft.

Estimator/Purchaser

Originally trained in biochemistry and toxicology, Tom transitioned from biomedical research and entrepreneurial projects—including renovating a vintage camper with his wife—to carpentry. Since joining Teakwood in 2024, he has progressed from apprentice to Estimator/Purchaser, using his precision and problem-solving skills to manage costs and support trade partnerships.

Born and raised in the Catskills, Scott developed a love for fixing and building early on. With experience in graphic design, IT, retail, winemaking, and remodeling, he has always pursued hands-on work alongside other careers. Joining Teakwood in 2024, Scott applies his diverse skills, practical knowledge, and enthusiasm for helping clients on all aspects of home repair.

Raised in a family of woodworkers, Mitch discovered his love for carpentry at an early age. He honed his skills through the BOCES building trades program, college coursework, and years of field experience. Since joining Teakwood in 2024, Mitch has applied his expertise and attention to detail to create precise, high-quality work on a wide variety of home construction projects.

Amy, raised in South Vietnam, approaches design as a universal language that can unite people and inspire meaningful change. Her multicultural background informs a unique perspective, adaptability, and strong work ethic. Since joining Teakwood in 2024, Amy has brought attention to detail, patience, and compassion to the design team, contributing her skills in creative design, fine arts, and photography. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time with her family.

Starting his carpentry journey in 2024, Ryan joined Teakwood to learn directly from skilled, award-winning craftsmen. His background in concrete work, farming, and the restaurant industry gave him a foundation in hands-on work, and he has rapidly advanced from Laborer to Apprentice to Carpenter while demonstrating curiosity, dedication, and a team-oriented mindset.

Carpenter

Patrick started his career in northern Maine, mastering carpentry skills from framing to intricate finish work on Mount Desert Island. Dedicated to craftsmanship and precision, he has a special interest in energy-efficient building methods and innovative construction technologies. Moving to upstate New York in 2025, he joined Teakwood to contribute his expertise to luxury home building and remodeling projects.

Carpenter

Collin is a skilled carpenter with a strong foundation in finish work, including trim, cabinetry, and door and window installation, as well as framing. After honing his craft in Ithaca, New York, Collin relocated to Saratoga Springs and joined Teakwood in 2025. Valued for his meticulous attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to craftsmanship, he takes pride in delivering high-quality results that reflect Teakwood’s reputation for excellence.

Luke Rockwood

In Memoriam | 1985-2019

Luke, who joined Teakwood in December 2017, made an immediate and lasting impact on everyone around him. Known for his passion for carpentry, willingness to go the extra mile, and infectious humor, he brought joy and dedication to every project. A devoted family man and caring friend, Luke is sincerely missed by the Teakwood team and all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
