Born and raised in Saratoga Springs and a graduate of Skidmore College’s business management program, Mike launched his career in the banking world, but knew it wasn’t a good fit. He then started working for a local construction firm that framed high-end custom homes and loved working in the trade. The company also worked with Teakwood on projects.
It was during this time Mike got to see first-hand how Team Teak worked and he took notice. But then he decided to relocate to Austin, TX to work on major commercial construction projects. After a year of sweating it out under the hot Texas sun, Mike returned home to visit his family and friends.
That’s when a friend told him about an opening at Teakwood. Mike met with Jim Sasko, was offered the job, and he jumped at the opportunity. He was familiar with the level of work that was demanded and the great working environment. He wanted to learn from Teakwood’s skilled craftsmen. He’s now working on so many things he never dreamt he’d be working on, one-of-a-kind projects where he’s able to learn and get better at his craft-and he thinks he literally has a really cool job.
