CRBRA Best In Building Awards 2020: Best Curb Appeal
Nestled within the historic North Broadway neighborhood of Saratoga Springs sits a neo-classical farmhouse that looks convincingly like it has been there for years, yet it’s the newest home on the block. Inspired by traditional farmhouses of the northeast, Balzer & Tuck architects combined simple forms and clean lines into an elegant massing in keeping with the historic neighborhood. The home’s architectural elements, from the steeply sloped gable dormer to the large covered front porch reinforce its connection with the historic neighborhood surroundings. Transom windows complement the home’s architectural style, adding a charming and distinctive touch. A screened porch and wood burning fireplace clad in reclaimed brick further add to this home’s unique design. Positioning the main residence at the southeast corner of the lot maximized the utility of the narrow lot, and allowed space for a driveway and detached garage. A sizable backyard features a stone-lined inground pool and a granite fire pit carved from stone excavated from the property during construction.
