Skilled Carpenter

Overview

As a Teakwood Carpenter, enjoy variety and independence. Perform work on your own or as part of crew crafting new luxury homes and remodeling projects. This position is ideal for a versatile carpenterwho likes a range of residential projects, including:

  • Demolition/removals: Disassembling portions of homes to be remodeled or restored
  • Foundation/masonry work: Pouring small concrete footings or piers for new structures; performing minor masonry brick, block, or stone projects  
  • Rough carpentry: Framing of floors, walls, roof structures, decks, porches, stairs, interior partition walls; may include historic structural restorations  
  • Mechanicals: Performing minor plumbing, HVAC, and/or electrical work alongside a seasoned mechanical expert
  • Finish carpentry: Includes: exterior millwork using wood and/or composite materials; interior running millwork; installing manufactured cabinets; producing site-built casework and custom millwork installations  
  • Finishes: Painting, staining, finishing drywall
  • Doors and windows: Installing windows, exterior doors, interior doors, and door hardware
  • Specialties: Installing bathroom hardware, mirrors, hardwood flooring, tile, skylights, closet shelving

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years full-time residential construction experience or property maintenance/repairs
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate’s degree preferred
  • Detail-oriented and diligent, with the manual dexterity, strength, and stamina to perform required work
  • Self-sufficient and self-motivated
  • Professional, courteous, and customer service-oriented
  • Excellent math and problem-solving skills
  • Effective use of a variety of hand and power tools (provide your own)
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid NYS driver’s license and ability to travel to jobs throughout the Greater Capital Region and Lower Adirondacks

 

Responsibilities

  • Planning and preparing for assigned projects, including establishing a schedule with the Lead Carpenter and reading assigned work scope
  • Ensuring production and quality control, completing projects thoroughly, accurately, timely, and to the client’s satisfaction
  • Communicating with the Lead Carpenter, Project Manager, and clients as needed to assess and resolve project challenges
  • Working safely on projects in compliance with industry standards and company policies
