Overview

As a Lead Carpenter, enjoy variety and independence. Perform work on your own or with a team. From project management, framing, trim carpentry, drywall, and minor masonry work, to door, window, and roof/siding installation, this position is ideal for the proficient carpenter who enjoys client interactions, leading a team of professional trades, collaborating with Architects/Engineers, Designers, and vendors, and understands how to build/craft within a planned schedule and budget.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 10 years full-time professional carpentry experience
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate’s degree preferred
  • Skills: Fluency in residential construction fundamentals; proficient in all phases including light electrical and plumbing repairs; manual dexterity, strength, and stamina to perform required work using a variety of hand and power tools; strong problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; basic computer skills
  • Characteristics: Detail-oriented; diligent; work independently and with minimal supervision; self-sufficient; self-motivated; professional; courteous; customer-service oriented
  • Special requirements: You must have reliable transportation to and from projects, which are located throughout the Greater Capital Region and Lower Adirondacks. You must provide your own hand and small power tools.

 

Responsibilities

  • Planning and preparing for assigned projects, including establishing schedule, obtaining needed materials, reading plans
  • Ensuring production and quality control, completing projects thoroughly, accurately, timely, and to the client’s satisfaction
  • Communicating with Project Manager as needed to assess and resolve project challenges
  • Working safely on projects in compliance with industry standards and company policies
