Ranch Reclaimed
Luxurious Ranch Home Makeover Breathes Lavish Life into 1970s Residence
Introducing “Ranch Reclaimed,” an exceptional transformation of a 1974 ranch house into a stylish, contemporary cottage in Saratoga Springs, NY. This project, a 2022 Chrysalis Award winner in the Whole House Remodel $400,000 – $700,000 category, showcases the innovative reimagination of a once dark and dated space into an open, modern home with unique 21st-century style.
Breathing New Life into Old Spaces
The original state of the house was dim, outdated, and demanded significant upgrades. Initial plans to demolish and build anew were abandoned, and the choice was made to revitalize and reshape the residence, creating an airy, contemporary cottage. The Teakwood design team completely reconfigured compact, disjointed rooms to create an expansive great-room kitchen with a vaulted ceiling and exposed steel tie rods. The space now infuses playful color with bright white modernity, boasting frameless cabinets in bold cobalt, a maraschino quartz farmhouse sink, and sleek, modern fixtures. French doors and an expansive rear deck enhance the connection between the home and its beautiful wooded surroundings.
A Playful and Practical Transformation
Transformed from a previously awkward and cramped area that housed a small kitchenette, an outdated black-and-white bath, and a cluster of storage closets, emerges an elegant and private primary suite. This sophisticated space showcases a walk-in closet, a thoughtfully reconfigured bath, and an impressive vaulted ceiling. The ensuite bath is designed with a zero-entry walk-in shower, catering to the homeowners’ aging parents. Custom floating vanities enhance storage while adding a touch of style to otherwise compact spaces. Once a modest and outdated ranch, this residence now exudes luxury, perfectly reflecting the homeowner’s unique personality with playful colors and artful details.
