Where there is no way to go left, right, rear, or forward - go up. Saratoga Springs general contractor Teakwood Builders was called upon to make a second-story addition to an Adirondack home set atop a hillside overlooking prestigious Lake George, where strict zoning requirements limit the options. The master suite addition offers a private living room, home office, exterior deck with a fireplace and unparalleled views of the gorgeous lake.

A stone surround and board and batten upper mantle makes the fireplace an attractive center of attention for this screened porch.

Rich, natural materials and finishes help this sitting porch fireplace comfortably maintain the character of this historic home year round.

The screened porch is as comfortable as an indoor room, but open to the family’s private back yard.

Teakwood Builders worked with a local architect to design this extensive porch addition to an 1873 residence, featuring an alfresco dining rotunda. Tuscan columns provide structural support and also echo the existing home’s architectural details. A new pergola links the addition at the home’s rear to the newly constructed carriage house-style garage.

Rich, durable, natural materials were incorporated into this new sitting porch, including tongue-and-groove mahogany decking and Douglas fir for the beadboard ceiling. The Tuscan columns are of low-maintenance fiberglass, while exterior trim details are of primed cedar.

Bountiful casement windows on the porch addition to this Loudonville NY, home make for a light-filled, three-season retreat. The exterior gable was sided in cedar shingles to match the existing home and architectural panels beneath the windows and pilaster details befit the home’s 1940s roots.

Teakwood helped reinvent this 1950s bungalow in Saratoga Springs with an addition that included a back porch, dining area and family room.

The elegant mahogany floors installed by Teakwood Builders in the screened porch are both beautiful and durable, standing up well to the elements.

Teakwood Builders removed the back of this Saratoga Springs home to expand the family room and add a breakfast nook and screened porch, with the new construction married seamlessly to the original structure.

Inspired by a Grecian structure overlooking blue water, this homeowner asked Teakwood Builkders for a Mediterranean idyll in his own backyard. Set a distance from the main house, the pool house is decidedly Greek Revival with gable end returns, pediments and columns.

Teakwood Builders created poolside screened porch with a TV, kitchen with an outdoor cooktop crowned by a stucco hood and a bath with changing area. All are handsomely constructed with tailored millwork, dry-stacked bluestone and stucco highlights.

Teakwood used fir ceilings and mahogany decking to make a cozy outdoor space for the family home.

The vaulted ceiling Teakwood Builders installed in this year-round sunroom features Douglas fir beadboard, while the floor is of rich mahogany. Detailed wall paneling mimics the architectural elements used on the exterior of this addition. A made-to-measure bench adjacent to the gas fireplace is hinged for discreet storage.

Casement windows with transoms and fixed clerestory windows in the addition gable make for a sunlit enclosed retreat, while the exterior space features a gas fireplace and durable, low-maintenance composite decking.
